Description of Role
The Editor-in-Chief of the STARFLEET Course Catalog oversees the development, accuracy, and presentation of the educational materials catalog. This position requires a strategic leader who excels in content management, is proficient in Google Docs, and ensures the catalog aligns with STARFLEET’s mission of providing quality educational resources. The Editor-in-Chief will lead a small team of dedicated individuals, working collaboratively to manage and enhance the catalog. Candidates must not hold other fleet-level positions to ensure full focus and commitment to this role.

Key Responsibilities:
– Oversee the creation, editing, and publication of the STARFLEET Course Catalog, ensuring content is accurate, comprehensive, and engaging.
– Lead and mentor a small team of contributors, providing guidance, assigning tasks, and ensuring deadlines are met.
– Manage and collaborate with contributors to gather updates, add new courses, and retire outdated material.
– Ensure the catalog adheres to STARFLEET’s branding and style guidelines for clarity and consistency.
– Utilize advanced Google Docs features to maintain and streamline catalog organization, formatting, and updates.
– Conduct regular reviews of the catalog to identify opportunities for improvement or expansion.
– Collaborate with the Chief of STARFLEET Educational Services to align the catalog with strategic educational objectives.
– Respond to inquiries or feedback regarding catalog content and resolve discrepancies.

Skills Needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
– Demonstrated expertise in using Google Docs, including advanced formatting, collaboration tools, and version control.
– Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a small team.
– Exceptional attention to detail with a strong command of grammar, spelling, and content organization.
– Ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate with a diverse team of contributors.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Experience in content editing and/or publishing (volunteer or professional).
– Familiarity with STARFLEET’s structure and mission.Preferred Qualifications:
– Previous experience in a STARFLEET educational or editorial role.
– Background in education, publishing, or content management.
– Intermediate to advanced level skills using Google Docs

Position Requirements
– Must not hold any other fleet-level position within STARFLEET to ensure dedicated focus.
– Ability to commit to regular collaboration and meetings as required by the Educational Services Division.
