SFI Intelligence Social Media Officer

Description of Role
The Social Media Officer is a pivotal role responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of our social media accounts. The Social Media Officer oversees the entirety of all social media for STARFLEET Intelligence, including the maintenance and curation of posts. This position requires a creative thinker, an excellent communicator, and a meticulous editor who can enhance the reader experience.

Key Responsibilities:
● Social Media Production:
○ Conceptualize, plan, and produce social media posts for SFIN.
○ Collaborate with writers, contributors, and the Senior Collections Officer to gather relevant content.
○ Ensure adherence to deadlines and publication schedules.
● Content Curation:
○ Work closely with other departments to source pertinent information.
○ Curate engaging posts showcasing what SFIN does and draw interest to the auxiliary.
● Collaboration with Senior Collections Officer and Senior Intelligence Officer:
○ Partner with the Senior Collections Officer to obtain exclusive content, interviews, and insights.
○ Partner with the Senior Intelligence Officer to obtain a list of conventions and events in various regions.
○ Edit and refine contributed social media posts.
● Proofreading and Fact-Checking:
○ Thoroughly review all social media posts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
○ Fact-check information and verify sources.
○ Correct grammar, spelling, and formatting errors.
● Aesthetic Enhancement:
○ Elevate the visual presentation of social media posts.
○ Collaborate with graphic designers or use available tools to create visually appealing layouts.
○ Select high-quality images and illustrations to complement social media posts.
● Original Content Creation:
○ Occasionally source and create original content.
○ Maintain a fresh and engaging perspective for readers.
● Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Skills Needed
● Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and/or OpenOffice
● Be proficient in using Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets
● Have basic experience working with spreadsheets
● Be proficient and have experience with various social media platforms, with an emphasis on Facebook, Instagram and BlueSky.
● Familiarity with Mailchimp is a plus
● Have a working computer and internet access
● Have good communication skills
Training Requirements (if applicable)
● Current SFDPP Certification
● Completion of OTS and OCC within two months if not already completed
