The primary task for the Office of the Judge Advocate General (or JAG) is if for whatever reason, a current member in good standing of STARFLEET finds himself/herself subject to an investigation or punitive ruling on the Regional and/or International Level, then they may call upon the Office of the Judge Advocate General, STARFLEET to aid him/her for the duration of the investigation or an appeal against a ruling taken. This assistance is given strictly upon request by the subject of the investigation or the ruling SFI MHB Section 03:09.
