Description of Role
The Chief Cadet Officer (CCO) of STARFLEET serves the Commander of STARFLEET as an advisor and sounding board for all things pertaining to the younger members of SFI who are cadets of the fleet. The CCO’s duty would be to foster growth of the cadet corps and represent the cadet members to the CS in deliberations, coordinate, mentor and provide training and ongoing activities at regional and chapter levels. The CCO will also create activities where the cadet can earn badges and awards, which will foster the desire in the cadet to be future leaders of SFI.

The CCO shall serve a term of three (3) years, which will commence on the first day of the second year after the Commander, STARFLEET taking office and ending on the last day of the first year of the next Commander, STARFLEET’s term. At the conclusion of such a term, and if the sitting CS so desires, the CCO may be resubmitted to the AB for reconfirmation to serve another term.
The CCO is charged with overseeing the growth, training, and act as a guide for the cadet to understand the policies and procedures that make up the structure of SFI. The CCO will help guide the cadet through various fun activities like the academy, Science projects, and the benefits of volunteerism to earn badges and awards. The CCO should be able to provide guidance in training and professionalism to aid the cadet in becoming a knowledgeable, capable and proficient member which will help the cadet become a good candidate to potentially lead SFI in the future.
Must be able to provide any qualifications or experience working with children or young adults including any organization you may have belonged to or had experience with.

The Mission:
The office of Chief Cadet Officer of SFI is to advise the Commander, STARFLEET and the Executive Committee regarding issues affecting the cadet ranks. To be an advocate for the cadets in all Regions.
To assist and advise the cadets of their duties and training.
To provide leadership and guidance for the development of the cadets of STARFLEET.

Skills Needed
Required Skills:

• Internet & Computer skills (including MS & Google docs)
• Working knowledge of available educational services/resources in SFA
• Must be familiar and have a working knowledge of the MHB
• Patience and professionalism with the ability to handle difficult situations.
• Excellent communication and empathy skills
• The ability to develop relationships with children and parents
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to identify area resources as needed for the Cadet or Parent
